Job Description

We are seeking a skilled Sub Arc Welder to join our workshop team. The Sub Arc Welder will be responsible for performing submerged arc welding (SAW) on various metal components and structures within our controlled workshop environment. This role requires proficiency in submerged arc welding techniques, attention to detail, and adherence to strict safety and quality standards.

Responsibilities

  • Perform submerged arc welding (SAW) on metal components, including structural steel, plates, and tubes, according to technical specifications and blueprints.
  • Set up and operate submerged arc welding machines, including adjusting welding parameters for different materials and thicknesses.
  • Prepare metal surfaces for welding by cleaning, grinding, and aligning components as needed.

  • Inspect welds for defects and ensure they meet workshop quality standards and technical specifications.
  • Conduct visual inspections and use measuring tools to verify the quality and accuracy of welds.
  • Perform non-destructive testing (NDT) such as ultrasonic testing (UT) or X-ray inspections, if required.

  • Follow all safety protocols and use personal protective equipment (PPE) to maintain a safe working environment in the workshop.
  • Ensure compliance with industry standards, codes, and regulations related to submerged arc welding and workshop safety.
  • Maintain and troubleshoot submerged arc welding equipment, ensuring it is in good working condition.
  • Report any equipment malfunctions, safety hazards, or deviations from specifications to the workshop supervisor.

  • Work collaboratively with other welders, fabricators, and workshop personnel to complete projects efficiently and meet deadlines.
  • Communicate effectively with team members and supervisors regarding project status, challenges, and requirements.

Skills:

  • Proficiency in operating submerged arc welding machines and equipment.
  • Strong understanding of welding safety practices and procedures.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and blueprints.

Requirements:

  • +2 years experience
  • Must be Welder Certified
  • Legally authorized to work in the USA.
  • Able to pass Drug and Alcohol Test.
